Will lifting weights make me bulky?
Short answer no, of course not. Second, the more elaborate answer is, it depends. On what you ask. Let us tell you.
Lifting weights for general health & wellness will not make you bulky. The introduction of weights, without a change in diet, will not result in becoming bulky or huge as many people, particularly women, fear.
Getting bulky & gaining mass is a lengthy process that involves lifting heavier weights, for an extended amount of time. Someone would also need to change their diet significantly, get consistent rest & try to put on size. This takes no small amount of effort, & even those that have it dialed in have their fair share of challenges to overcome.
You’re probably thinking, well now what? I want to make a change but what will lifting weights do for me then? The pros far outweigh the cons. Take a look:
- Develop lean muscle mass, not bulk
- Lean muscle burns more fat, kinda cool hu?
- Gain overall strength
- Improve bone density
- Better balance & body mechanics
- More resilient to illness
- Helps regulate sleep pattern
And the list goes on & on.
So next time you hear someone say, “I don’t want to get bulky”, drop some knowledge on them & keep on lifting. Cheers guys & happy training!
